Dr. Tom Sawa
Chiropractor
Dr. Tom Sawa graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Biology and Psychology in 1972. In 1977 he received his Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) and has been practicing ever since. He was a founding member and received a board-certified fellowship diploma from the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (FCCSS). He also received an honorary certificate in the Canadian Association of Podiatric Sports Medicine (CAPSM).
While in practice, Dr. Sawa received the Level IV coaching in the National Coaching Certification program (NCCP) and was an active hockey instructor in the Ontario Hockey Association program. During that time he served as coach, team doctor, and trainer for various organizations such as St. Michael’s, Toronto Young Nationals and Mississauga Reps.
Dr. Sawa’s practice continues with an emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of active and chronic injury including prevention, exercise prescription, and most importantly, providing the patient with a clear understanding of the problem and the treatment involved. He has specialized in the upper extremity and has invented and patented the “Sawa Shoulder Orthosis” orthopedic brace, which is used throughout North America in general orthopedic practices, hospitals, as well as in professional and NCAA sports.
